Dance Contests

We are pleased to announce that we will be running five different dance contests during Lindy Harvest 2019! There will be an Open Strictly Lindy, Mix & Match /Advanced Strictly, Mix & Match and Solo Jazz contests happening throughout the weekend,  The Open Strictly and Open Mix & Match are open to all levels of dancers, whereas the Advanced Strictly and Advanced Mix & Match are meant for advanced dancers. A partner is required for Strictly contests, but for Mix & Match contests you can sign up by yourself and you will be paired with someone.

Sign-up is available online here and will be available at the dances. There is a $10/contest fee for those who are not registered for the entire weekend.

We bring you these contests as a nod to the original Harvest Moon Ball competitions that took place in New York during the 1930s. The Harvest Moon Ball was one of the biggest amateur contests in the USA, drawing thousands upon thousands of spectators. The Harvest Moon Ball was truly a dance event of epic proportion and it featured some of history’s most notable dancers, including Frankie Manning and Norma Miller.
